Konstanzia Programme

The Konstanzia Programme, features a range of funding modules designed to suit to the distinct career stages of female researchers. While mentoring remains a central focus, strategic networking is integral at every phase.

It containes the Konstanzia MEiN Program (Mentoring with Experts and international Networking program), designed to encourage female doctoral students to develop an academic career by gaining international experience, mentoring with renowned researchers and accompanying workshops, the Konstanzia Fellowship that includes mentoring, coaching, training, and financial support during a 2-year program, or the Konstanzia Duo Mentoring, thought for Junior Group Leaders and Junior Professors that join the CRC or a part of it. The Konstanzia Transition provides bridge funding for young female researchers, who have a special funding requirement for a limited time or who are in a short-term emergency situation.

Workshops and Coaching

The workshop series offers a comprehensive approach to professional development, encompassing a range of essential skills and well-being initiatives. Participants engage in sessions designed to foster career growth, effective communication through voice and body coaching, and the cultivation of resilience and mental strength. The workshops also address the nuances of negotiation skills crucial for success in academic and professional spheres and ideally complement the scientific workshops offered by the IRTG FaN.Some of the workshops take place in person on campus or online, or in integrated formats such as the Focus Bolder course. Recognizing the diverse needs of researchers, the series provides a platform for personalized coaching sessions, tailoring guidance to individual aspirations. This holistic approach aims to empower participants with the skills and mindset necessary for thriving in both their academic and personal pursuits.

Women Networking Lunch

Regular Networking Lunch events provide a platform for women of all career stages and from various research areas to engage in casual and enriching discussions. These sessions offer an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss future plans, and contribute to shaping gender equality initiatives. Furthermore the women within the SFB 1432, but also of all other CRCs at the UKON can connect.

Role Model Series

The Role Models Series brings accomplished female physicists to interact with female researchers from the SFB 1432. Through networking and career discussions, participants gain insights into the experiences of successful women in the field and can extend their network.

Family Support Measures

We provide a long-term placement in the university’s Kinderhaus childcare center as well as short-term childcare during conferences and for special situations. Additionally, travel grants for accompanying children and caretakers are provided. To support the members at their research, we provide flexible research time, direct support from a research assistant or an extension of the employment contract. To adequately support the female members of the CRC, we believe it is important to address their individual needs, which strongly depend on their family situation.

Public Events

Public events, including film series and plays, celebrate the achievements of women in physics. These initiatives highlight the contributions of female scientists and aim to inspire the broader research community.
